Gelendzhik
Gelendzhik resort zone stretches on more than 100 km along the Black sea shore. Gelendzhik includes many other famous resort spots: Arhipo-Osipovka, Betta, Krinitca, Praskoveevka, Dzhanhot, Divnomorskoe, Kabardinka. Its population is about 52500 people.Gelendzhik is one of the most popular resorts of the Black sea in Russia. It spreads out along a beautiful Gelendzhik bay which is imbordered by picturesque Caucasus Mountains. “Gelendzhik” from Turkic means “White bride”. It is a real pleasure to enjoy an amazing panoramic view from the top of Marhotskyi chain: Gelendzhik looks like an enormous amphitheater.
Gelendzhik is only 25 km away from the hero-city Novorossiysk and 260 km from the resort-city Sochi. Its sand and pebble beaches, beautiful nature, modern health-centers and hotels attract loads of tourists each year. The economy of the region is significantly growing: according to the official data the turnover in all spheres has multiplied by 26 times from 1998 to 2007.
The key position in the economy of the city is tourism; the second place is for trade and catering, then science and construction.
Gelendzhik is not an industrial city, but there are some plants producing wine, juice, food products. Also there is a fish factory.
